再生砖是用破碎的废墟材料作为骨料，掺和切断的麦秸作纤维，加入水泥、沙等，由灾区当地原有的制砖厂，作成轻质砌块，用着灾区重建材料。它既是废弃材料在物质方面的”再生”，又是灾后重建在精神和情感方面的“再生”。
灵感来源于刘家琨的建筑设计作品，以及韩松的同名科幻小说。
