Everyone comes to this small city for the diaolou. So did I. The buildings you see in the brochures are definitely special, but the more I walked, the more I found myself drawn to the moments that weren’t on the map — a quiet street, a morning market, a village I had never heard of, and someone who just happened to be there, holding a key.
Some experiences aren’t meant to be found. They find you. And in that moment, it becomes your own Kaiping.
