LIVER AND FATTY LIVER – MOVIE 4: Ductular reaction in experimental steatohepatitis.
The liver is the central organ of our metabolism. In case of obesity, the liver may show fatty liver disease, which is the most prevalent liver disorder in the western world. These videos show key components of the liver structure in 3D, namely, blood vessels, bile ducts and liver nerves in healthy conditions and in various stages of fatty liver disease in human tissue as well as in mouse experimental model.
METHOD: iDISCO+ volume immunostaining and clearing
TISSUE: Mouse liver, model for steatohepatitis (SNAP-25b–deficient mice back-crossed on C57BL/6Crl), 12w old male, after 7w of high fat/high sucrose (Western) diet
ANTIBODIES: Cytokeratin 7
MOVIE DESCRIPTION: Bile duct proliferation (ductular reaction) is well visible. ‘Liver MOVIE 3’ is the corresponding control.
