Liz lived alone in the countryside, where a crystal-blue river wrapped her cottage, singing a natural song. And a peaceful wood stood next in the river.

Every day, Liz would save up some crumbs to feed vigorous creatures. Worn in a cream-colored dress,Liz set off at a leisure pace towards woods, where different kinds of flowers blossomed like an angel, unfolded in the wind, under the sun. The furry rabbit, squirrel, red deer and a grey horse all gathered together to extend their cordial welcome. The squirrel even climbed up on the Liz's shoulder as she bent down to distribute the crumbs. The raccoon came a little late, he wore a expression of expectation, stood up on his hind legs and looked straight at Liz. Liz said in pity, "I'm sorry, but all crumbs are gone." All of a sudden, a silvery voice came out of sky, catching Liz's attention. Turning around, Liz found a blue bird, with its red eyes shining like ruby. "How beautiful and elegant it is." The bird curiously stared at Liz, tilting its head. Then the bird flapped the wings and disappeared in the sky, leaving a graceful and impressed figure in Liz's mind.
On a day when the strong wind howled and the heavy rain poured from the sky, Liz came back home from work, soaking wet. She carefully washed herself up, took a seat and simply ate the bread. Exhausted and lonely, she just fell asleep on the chair.
The next day, when the sunlight shone through thick clouds into the cottage, Liz was filled up with delight and hope again to start a new day. She was about to feed animals when she saw a girl dressed in blue lying unconsciously near the river. Surprised but cared, Liz approached to shake her awake. Becoming clear-headed, the girl looked at Liz with pleasant surprise, and called out "Liz!" Liz was in a puzzle, but she invited the girl to recuperate some days in her home.

Cheers and laughter lingered in the cottage in the next few weeks. The girl's company eased Liz's loneliness that she used even to neglect. They awoke to each other's happy smile, ate breakfast face to face, and shared all the housework. A sunny day was just perfect to wash and air a quilt while a balmy breeze was a nature's gift to refresh their spirits. Sometimes they would go to the woods to pick raspberries and Liz attached one cluster of raspberries to the girl's hair to decorate. They just enjoyed their summertime. One day, they sat on the lawn, having a picnic. Liz asked, "Where are you from?" "I don't know. But I have seen numerous towns and forest." Replied the girl, looking at the distant. "So why are you here?" "Because I see Liz alone and I feel like playing with Liz." The girl turned her head, smiled and then scampered happily on the grass. Impressed by her sincerity, vivacity and subtle emotion, Liz lost in thought. She suddenly got up and exclaimed, "Please, stay with me forever, forever, stay with me."
The weather turned cold gradually. The autumn was approaching. Liz and the girl lived a peaceful and pleasant life. One midnight, however, the girl woke up from sleep, lifted the quilt, opened the window and turned into a blue bird, flying away. At dawn, Liz woke up, only to find the girl disappeared and the window open. Surprised and apprehensive, she pretended to sleep. Early in the morning, the bird came back and turned into the girl. She walked gingerly so as not to disturb Liz. She crawled into bed and hugged Liz slightly.
Their lives just went on as if nothing had happened. The weather was getting chilly. The girl broken off a piece of bread, saying "The winter is around the corner, and where do you want to go, Liz?" Liz paused and shook her head, smiling bitterly "Nowhere. I'm just staying here." The girl blinked slowly, "Eh." Liz nodded, but with gloom. In the midnight, Liz found herself alone again. She got up and spotted a blue feather lying on the floor. She signed but said nothing. However, a cage was then placed by the window, inside which was a blue feather. Another day when Liz and the girl distributed crumbs in the woods, the sound of flapping wings attracted Liz. She looked up and found two birds playing. Turning around, she saw the girl fascinated thoroughly by the birds. Liz had seen through it all, but she hesitated. She herself was wandering in a dilemma, not knowing where to go. To grasp or to let it go.

After a long thought, Liz made a tough decision. When the girl came back home from picking raspberries with delight. Liz said goodbye to the girl with smile. A basket of raspberries dropped, scattering on the floor. "You are ought to be free and use your lightsome wings to fly to everywhere you want." "Why? I just wang to stay with you forever. Only by your side can I taste the sweet of happiness." "I am the cage that traps you. You have wings and vast sky to explore. I can't deprive you of your wings," Liz opened the door, smiling mildly. "So just leave here and fly high. Please let me watch your beautiful figure go away," Liz held out her hand, "That's the way I convey my feelings." She paused and took a deep breath "I love you." The girl sobbed, stepped slowly towards door. She looked back, with love, with unwillingness, and turned into a blue bird, flying away.
Liz scuttled to follow the bird and stopped in the lawn. Groups of birds fluttered their wings to pursue the distant horizon. A blue feather gently fell from the sky. Liz reached out to catch it. She signed with her face hidden in her hands "Goddess, why should you teach me the way to open the cage?"
