钩鲶属（Ancistrus）

俗称胡子类

此属物种成年体型通常不会超过20cm，体型较扁，头部相对更宽，腮棘呈现短粗而向前弯折的钩状（“Ancistrus”源于古希腊语中的“钩子”一词）

此属拥有甲鲶科中最大的两性特征：成年雄性的吻部生有明显的肉质触须，雌性缺少或仅在吻部边缘稀疏分布，幼体无肉须。此器官是一种新型的繁殖策略：雌性可能更偏好正处于护苗行为的雄性，雄性通过肉须的摆动从而模仿幼鱼来达到欺骗雌性的目的【1】。

分布上钩鲶属是最广的种群之一，大量分布与亚马逊盆地的河流与浅滩中，同时存在3种唯一已知的洞穴种甲鲶（A. cryptophthalmus，A. galani，A. formoso）【2】

此外钩鲶拥有鱼类乃至脊椎动物中罕见的X0性别决定系统(X0 sex-determination system)【3】
