问答部分
记者提问: How did you choose your stage name?
Evelyn Lin: I chose Evelyn because I thought the name was pretty. I actually got it from the movie The Mummy. I didn't really choose the last name. The photographer who first got me into porn chose it for me.
记者提问: What were you doing before you entered the adult film industry?
Evelyn Lin: I was already in college just living the typical student's life.
记者提问: You have mentioned in a prior interview that you were sexually liberated by age 17... was this one of the reasons you entered porn? On paper, it seems that you aren't the cookie cutter pornstar with an abused past or substance abuse record. Why is that so?
Evelyn Lin: I've always been a very sexually open and curious person. And being so, made porn just another adventure. As for the whole "all pornstars have a messed up background" is a misconception. Most girls I know come from relatively normal families and backgrounds.
记者提问: You are originally from China and you emigrated to Southern California when you were four years old. Did you still remember any interesting stories during the transition? How did you learn English?.... By watching cartoons?
Evelyn Lin: I learned a lot of English by cartoons and Flipper and other shows on Nickelodeon. The thing I remember most about the flight over was taking care of my mom because she had motion sickness. I also remember that the first thing I asked upon deplaning was "Where’s Disneyland?"
记者提问: How was it like being a Chinese-American in elementary and then into high school? Any problems with guys having yellow fever when you were growing up?
Evelyn Lin: Well, I think my parent's neighborhood was predominantly Asian so it wasn't too difficult. The fact that I wasn't alone as a Chinese-American kept most people from teasing me for being one. I never really experienced guys with "yellow fever" until I entered college because I dated all Asian guys until college.
记者提问: Do you still speak the Chinese dialect at home with your parents?
Evelyn Lin: I speak Chinglish (Chinese and English)... I speak mostly Mandarin and then fill in the words I don't know how to say in English. My parents usually understand the gist of what I'm saying.
记者提问: There are so many Chinese stereotypes that people generally have, but at present it's trendy to be Chinese since it is a superpower. Do you think you have indirectly benefited by the positive change in attitude toward Chinese?
Evelyn Lin: I don't think this change has really affected me because, like I mentioned, I grew up in a predominantly Asian community with many other Chinese people. It also doesn't matter to me that it's "trendy" now because being Chinese isn't a trend for me, it's my nationality and I'm proud of it, no matter what.

记者提问: Have you been to China recently or to Taiwan? Have you noticed that some Chinese are rude because I have had an instance when I was in Hong Kong recently and I was about to exit the elevator, but then these Chinese tourists decided to board the elevator to their room, but I was going to ground floor. Anyway, they packed themselves in like sardines and by the time the ground floor was there, they would not let me out although I yelled and yelled. Sometimes they have no manners. Do you think that is a fair observation?
Evelyn Lin: I go back every 3-4 years. The last time I went back to China was the summer of 2005. I usually either land in Shanghai or Beijing because they have the main international flights and work my way inland and then back to either city. To me, Shanghai is a little more modern, or at least more Westernized, because it is such a big international seaport. I don't think it's fair to claim that Chinese people in particular are rude... there are rude people in every country.
记者提问: Describe your weekly schedule. How do you juggle everything?
Evelyn Lin: Well, I just work during the weekends and try to study and do schoolwork as much as I can during the weekdays. It only gets hard when I have a lot of schoolwork as all I have time for is work and school.
记者提问: Now, I understand that you are in school finishing up your communications degree while maintaining a normal life by hanging out with your friends... how do you manage to keep your porn career separate from your personal life? Have any of your closest friends or relatives made an obscene remark regarding your choice for porn? How do you deal with it?
Evelyn Lin: I'm pretty sure my relatives don't know. Most of my friends still treat me the same. They know me as a sexually active person. But, one of my best girlfriends was very critical and upset with my choice... though I found it ironic because she used to always talk about wanting to do porn herself. Her boyfriend also posted a lot of personal information about me on the internet because he didn't approve either. Eventually, she dumped that boyfriend and we made up but we still don't talk much... maybe once every three months. It's hard to be as close to her as I once was after hearing what she had to say about me.
记者提问: On that same note, you've mentioned in a prior interview that your parents don't know of your side-job. How about now? Are they still out of the loop?
Evelyn Lin: Yeah I would think so... I don't think they know but they might have an inkling. My mom asked me if I was doing anything bad and I said no. But, it was that my grandfather in China who has a really slow internet connection brought to my parent's attention that he found a scantily clad picture of me on the web... fortunately my dad covered up for me and just told him I was modeling lingerie.

记者提问: At age 17, you started having sexual relations. At what age did you have receptive anal intercourse in your personal life? Describe the initial experiences with anal... positive or negative? At the time, were you at all concerned about the complications like infections causing fistulas?
Evelyn Lin: At the time, I was dating someone exclusively and so disease was never a concern... plus, the excitement of the moment kind of drove all thoughts and worries from my mind. The reason why we had anal was because I had my period. It was exciting. We took it really slow until I was relaxed a little more. When I was fully relaxed, it felt nice. I was thinking in my head that it's not bad and I wanted to do this. In retrospect, I really surprised myself.
记者提问: Earlier in your career, you did anal and double penetration? Why the rush? Why did you not save it for later in your career? Do regret the decision that you did anal and dp so early in your fledgling career?
Evelyn Lin: Well the thing is that I entered the business through this sleazeball photographer/pseudo-agent and he booked me for anal and double penetration. He tempted me with the promise of good money. After the first four scenes, I got a new agent. The thing is that the photographer lived very close by me and we shared mutual friends. He used to work with a girl from my high school shooting glamour and sexy lingerie shots, which eventually landed her modeling gigs with IGN. He tricked me by saying that if you want to go that route, then you have to go through porn first. I know it sounds a bit naive, but it's the past.... you learn from your mistakes. In retrospect, I would have been more cautious.
记者提问: Describe your first scene that you ever done where you were late by an hour. What were you thinking right before the scene started?
Evelyn Lin: It was raining that day and I was driving crazy to get to the film shoot location. I was more worried about being several hours late than the actual scene. By the time I got there, there was no time to get butterflies in your stomach or to get nervous. Somehow, being late to the shoot helped me not thinking that this was my first porn scene ever.
记者提问: Which studios have you worked for and which ones do you like? How was working for Combat Zone different from the other studios?
Evelyn Lin: It was great but I'm not sure if my shooting experience with Combat Zone can be considered the "true Combat Zone experience". It was basically me, the male talent, and the director on location. I had met the director the day before when he was shooting my first scene. The experience was different from a lot of other studios because unlike other studios, there wasn't a bunch of assistants running around.
记者提问: Which talent do you like to work with?
Evelyn Lin: I generally prefer to work with younger guys (or at least younger looking) like James Deen, Alan Stafford, and Derrick Pierce.
记者提问: Did you have any prior misconceptions about the adult film industry?
Evelyn Lin: I guess I didn't really believe the hype about the industry because most hype isn't real. I had heard the myth of fluffer girls who are suppose to get guys hard before shooting a scene and never really believed it. In reality, the guys do it themselves. I did watch The Girl Next Door starring Elisha Cuthbert and I never really believed it either.
记者提问: The adult film industry talent-wise can be competitive? Have you ever experienced the competitiveness among talent?
Evelyn Lin: Yes, I have. Recently, I managed to get my official website www.loveevelyn.com started. There were anonymous comments to me about how the content I was planning was very minimal and found out that it was another girl's boyfriend/husband.
记者提问: Would you be interested in becoming a contract star with one of the top companies in the business or do you prefer having so-called free agent status where you call the shots?
Evelyn Lin: I definitely see the benefits of both. I want to do the contract because of the free publicity but it's not going to happen anytime soon because I'm currently in school and only shooting on weekends... contracts require you to be available more often than that. The benefit of having the free agent status is being able to work as I am now and making more money.
记者提问: Did you attend the AVN Expo?
Evelyn Lin: I did. It was crazy! I was surprised that many fans had really nice and expensive digital cameras even with their own lighting equipment... some had better equipment than I had seen with the industry people the day before. I really had a great time signing for Pure Play and it was even better because I was signing with the very popular Sunny Lane... I had the VIP treatment going to events and parties right after the awards ceremony.
记者提问: Do you ever feel pigeonholed, since you are Chinese, into Asian-themed videos? Is that okay with you or do you also have a problem perpetuating the Asian woman stereotype?
Evelyn Lin: I don't really feel pigeonholed with my career. After shooting for some companies, I've heard directors comment that I could do a wide-range of things. I'm okay with playing the Asian girl because it's just acting and the directors don't actually think of me in that stereotype. I just think the things they have me say are funny or ridiculous sometimes. I'm only embarrassed when directors ask me to do kung fu or sword fighting moves just because I actually don't know how. I think the young girl stereotype is a little more disturbing for me because sometimes I swear I look like I'm 12. My friends joke that I should dress like that normally so I can get into places cheaper.
记者提问: Have you been spotted in public as being Evelyn Lin and has anyone approached you? How do you deal with this unsolicited attention?
Evelyn Lin: I've only been approached twice to this day. I know that people do see me but don't come up to me because they message me on Myspace and go "Oh I saw you at this place but was embarrassed to approach you". The first time I was approached, I was at the county office applying for my business license and after I left, some guy came running out after me and asked for a picture, which I said yes to. The other time was on campus; some guy approached me as I was in the cafeteria and asked for my autograph. It was late at night and I was in my PJs just trying to get a snack so it surprised me. I told him "Um, that's really rude" because it was the first thought that came to my mind. I think it was just the wrong time to ask me.
记者提问: The adult film industry mandates all talent to undergo frequent testing for chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, and HIV. How concerned are you? Are you at all concerned that herpes is not tested? How would you make it safer? How about your experiences with contraceptives any adverse effects?
Evelyn Lin: I do wish that herpes was tested for but I know that it's pretty impossible to test for it unless there are visible open sores. I do really wish that the adult film industry mandated testing for syphilis, and especially hepatitis C since it is currently incurable and can be fatal. I'm currently on the pill and I don't think it's had any adverse effects. I do know of other girls who complain that it makes them cranky.
记者提问: You've mentioned before that you were surprised by the number of people in the industry that are married. Do you ever see yourself marrying or having a serious relationship with someone in the business?
Evelyn Lin: Not really. Currently, I prefer to date guys outside of the industry just because it gives me a change of scenery and conversation. I noticed that when I spend time with friends in the industry, we talk a lot about work. I think I'd want to hear about other topics after a while.
记者提问: Are you in the adult film industry for the short or long haul? Do you plan to use your degree once you graduate for possibly a job in the industry?
Evelyn Lin: I think it depends on my future employers. I had planned on using my Communications degree to get a job as a publicist but as my popularity increases, I don't know if certain companies will want to hire a former porn star. I recently found out that porn stars need publicists too so maybe I'll go that route.
记者提问: How has porn changed you?
Evelyn Lin: It's wizened me to the true nature of some people, both my non-industry friends and people within the industry. I've learned to be more cautious when signing contracts and to listen when others warn me about people. I've also taken a heightened interest in my sexual health. Before porn, I had actually never gotten tested; now, even if I have the month off, I'll go for my monthly testing.
记者提问: How does porn contribute to society?
Evelyn Lin: It lets people live out their sexual fantasies without actually having to perform them. For example, many guys may think that double penetration to a woman is very arousing but don't like the idea that they have to be rubbing against another man—porn is the perfect solution. It also allows married couples "experience other people" without actually doing so.
记者提问: If you had to change something in the porn industry, what would you change?
Evelyn Lin: Like I said, I would change certain testing regulations and I just wish that certain people weren't as deceiving for money making purposes... but that's every industry.
记者提问: If you weren't in porn, what would you be doing?
Evelyn Lin: Just being a student... I'd probably sleep a lot more on weekends.
