The Shift Field is a piece of advanced Imperium defensive technology that is being field tested by the Mentors Chapter, and can be carried on the belt or strap of a Space Marine. When activated, the Shift Field creates a protective shield around ten Space Marines, which distorts the light around them and makes it impossible for their opponents to pinpoint them with projectile weapons. Though the Mentors within the Shift Field are able to see and fire out the field as normal, it can not prevent anyone from entering the shield and negating its effects.
