Mitsuha (played by Kii Kitano) is the elder sister of Sougo Okita (played by Ryo Yoshizawa). One day, she informs her brother that she is about to marry a man named Touma Kuraba. In reality, Mitsuha and Toushirou Hijikata (played by Yuya Yagira) once had an unrequited romance, during which Hijikata coldly and decisively rejected Mitsuha's affections, becoming the primary reason for Sougo's hatred toward him. However, deep down, both still harbor the purest feelings for each other. Mitsuha has always been in poor health, and her sudden worsening condition leads to her collapsing and being hospitalized. Meanwhile, Isao Kondou (played by Kankurou Nakamura), the leader of the Shinsengumi, discovers that Mitsuha's fiancé has been involved in illegal arms smuggling, backed by a vast and terrifying criminal organization. Enraged, Sougo decides to avenge his sister, dragging in Gintoki Sakata (played by Shun Oguri), the owner of the Yorozuya, into the conflict.
