The film is adapted from the novel 'The Jade Pendant,' set against the backdrop of the 1871 Los Angeles Chinatown Massacre. Through the love story between Tom, a descendant of Chinese laborers, and Peony, a runaway bride, it depicts the struggles of Chinese immigrants pioneering the American West in the 19th century, exposing social conflicts fueled by racial prejudice and immigrant discrimination.
