On April 27, Bona Film Group announced that its feature film *Sanxingdui: Future Past* officially obtained the public screening license issued by the China Film Administration. Notably, the film's filing record (No. [2025] 086) classifies it as a "sci-fi animated film," indicating that China has yet to establish a distinct category for AI-themed content, still defaulting to animation as the reference classification.
The film recently released its first trailer at the Cannes Film Festival.
Synopsis: Hidden within the Sanxingdui bronzeware lies a binary code that does not belong to that era. Three thousand years later, Artificial Super Intelligence sweeps across the world, with humans willingly surrendering every decision to algorithms and every future to computational power, triggering a global catastrophe. A down-and-out archaeologist discovers that the inscriptions on the Sanxingdui artifacts hold the key to averting the impending crisis. The cipher consists of just seven Sanxingdui characters—a revelation the ancient Shu people paid for with the disappearance of their civilization. Three millennia later, will humanity still be able to listen?
