The film tells the story of three deaf youths. Zixin comes from a deaf family and has never heard sound in his world. Despite life's obstacles, he lives confidently with sign language. Suen received a 'cochlear implant' as a child and painstakingly learned oral speech. Even with a 'deaf accent,' she strives to be a 'normal person.' Alan also uses a cochlear implant, with oral skills similar to Suen's, and knows sign language. He is Zixin's best friend, believing deaf people should strive to communicate with others to broaden their world. Friendship binds the three together, and though each bears scars, it leads them on a journey to find themselves.
